About Castaic, CA.
Castaic is a picturesque town nestled in the Val Verde and Chiquito Canyons 10 miles north of Santa Clarita and 40 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles. The name Castaic originates in the Chumash Native American language and means “eyes”. As of 2014, Castaic is an unincorporated census-designated community. Modern day Castaic’s origins can be traced to the year 1915 and the completion of the $500,000 Ridge Route Railway that connected Castaic to Gorman and reduced the old road between Los Angeles and Bakersfield by 60 miles. Today, the town
maintains a “managed growth” philosophy in regards to its 21st century expansion.
